B&C Donates Historic Collection to UM

The Boone and Crockett Club has donated its historic files, letters and photographs to the Maureen and Mike Mansfield Library at the University of Montana.

UM archivist Donna McCrea said the University library has sought the prestigious collection since the Boone and Crockett Club moved its headquarters from Virginia to Missoula in 1993.

MISSOULA, Mont. (June 14, 2022) – The Boone and Crockett Club welcomed today’s vote by the U.S. House of Representatives to pass the Recovering America’s Wildlife Act. The legislation would provide dedicated funding for state fish and wildlife agencies and tribal nations to proactively address the needs of the species of greatest conservation need within their state.

Secretary Salazar Affirms Decision to Delist Gray Wolves

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar affirmed,  March 6, 2009, the decision by the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service to remove gray wolves from the list of threatened and endangered species in the western Great Lakes and the northern Rocky Mountain states of Idaho and Montana and parts of Washington, Oregon and Utah. Wolves will remain a protected species in Wyoming.

New World's Record Elk Provides Educational Moment

The Boone and Crockett Club’s recent announcement of a new World’s Record elk has generated unprecedented news coverage as well as public craving for details about the giant bull.

Taken in 2008 by a hunter on public land in Utah, it is the only elk on record with a gross antler score approaching the 500-inch mark, at 499-3/8. Official data dates back to 1830.
