The Boone and Crockett Club's recent 29th Big Game Awards established several new benchmarks that event organizers say are a reflection of today's hunters' commitment to wildlife and habitat conservation, fair chase and the future of these traditions.

The Boone and Crockett Club announces the release of the newest edition of "How to Score North American Big Game." The book offers the most up-to-date scoring techniques with easy-to-follow instructions for scoring all 38 categories of North American big-game animals. The new edition is set to release in July 2016.

The Boone and Crockett Club announced its support for a new fair-chase policy recently adopted by the Colorado Parks and Wildlife Commission. The new policy for hunting and angling in the state is in response to emerging technologies that have the potential to undermine the long-standing traditions of sportsmen in upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct in the field.

Record-class specimens of Canada moose, desert sheep, non-typical American elk and Columbia blacktail deer, Roosevelt's elk and typical Sitka blacktail deer have become more common afield, based on newly compiled records by Boone and Crockett Club.

Conversely, records reveal a stable or opposite trend for other categories of native North American big-game species.

The Boone and Crockett Club is grieving the recent passing of Boone and Crockett Club Honorary Life Member Jack Ward Thomas. The former Chief of U.S. Forest Service and Boone and Crockett Professor Emeritus of Wildlife Biology at University of Montana lost his battle with cancer on May 26.
