Many species of big game and associated wildlife, as well as ranchers and farmers, have all been the beneficiaries of legislation whose seeds were planted during the Great Depression.

The federal law known generally as the Farm Bill is slated to be reauthorized again in 2023, and this process is one of the Boone and Crockett Club’s top legislative priorities. But why? The fact is that the Farm Bill supports significant voluntary conservation efforts on our nation’s private lands. This incentive-based, non-regulatory approach benefits agricultural producers but also benefits wildlife and their habitat.

Boone and Crockett Club Welcomes USDA Increased Commitment to Big Game Migration Corridor Conservation

MISSOULA, Mont. (June 27, 2023) – The Boone and Crockett Club welcomed U.S. Department of Agriculture Under Secretary Robert Bonnie’s announcement of a new funding commitment to big game migration corridor conservation on private lands in Idaho and Montana. In addition, the Department will be expanding the highly successful Working Lands for Wildlife initiative that targets funding for wildlife habitat conservation on working lands. Boone and Crockett Applauds Passage of New Farm Bill

The group behind the creation of North America's system of conservation - the Boone and Crockett Club - applauds the passage of the new Farm Bill, which includes several critical conservation and forest management provisions.

Boone and Crockett Club: Daines' Farm Bill Efforts a Win for Conservation

The Boone and Crockett Club today praised Montana Senator Steve Daines for his efforts in ensuring critical conservation measures were included in the latest version of the Farm Bill.

"Legislation is intended to address needs," noted Ben Hollingsworth, Jr., president of the Boone and Crockett Club. "Good legislation comes from those who take a boots-on-the-ground approach with the intent of doing the greatest good for the greatest number. Senator Daines has contributed both through the provisions being included in the new Farm Bill."

Boone and Crockett Club Supports House Farm Bill

The Boone and Crockett Club worked closely with the U.S. House of Representatives, specifically the Chairman of the Agriculture Committee, K. Michael Conaway (TX-11), on the Conservation and Forestry titles of the Farm Bill. The House Agriculture Committee approved a bill earlier this year that is beneficial to conservation and forestry in America.
