The Latest News in Conservation
The Dallas Safari Club last week announced their board's decision to no longer support the practice of captive bred lion shooting in Africa. The Boone and Crockett Club fully supports this decision.
The Dallas Safari Club's press release said, "After a thorough analysis and deliberation, the Board of Dallas Safari Club has concluded that the practice of captive bred lion hunting is not a practice that is in keeping with its values of ethical and fair chase hunting. Therefore, Dallas Safari Club does not support the practice of captive bred lion hunting."
"There's not much more to say," commented Boone and Crockett Club President Ben Hollingsworth Jr. "This is not hunting and it does not support the conservation of lions. This is an affront to fair chase hunting and its day should be done. We thank the Dallas Safari Club for their leadership. We also encourage other organizations, agencies, and sportsmen to follow suit, and for the countries where this is taking place to make captive bred lion shooting illegal."
