The Boone and Crockett Club today thanked members of Congress for negotiating a final spending bill for federal agencies that includes a commitment to funding recreational access projects. The bill affirms the intent of the Great American Outdoors Act that was signed into law in early August. The GAOA committed to provide full and permanent funding for the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) and significant funding for deferred maintenance backlogs on federal lands.

The Boone and Crockett Club lauded President Trump’s signing of the Great American Outdoors Act today as a tremendous boon to conservation and maintenance of our nation’s federal public lands. The bill passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in the U.S. Senate and U.S. House of Representatives where almost three-quarters of members in both chambers voted for the legislation. The Great American Outdoors Act provides full and permanent funding of $900 million per year for the Land and Water Conservation Fund and also provides $9.5 billion funding over five years for federal land management agencies to tackle their deferred maintenance backlogs.
Washington D.C. —On June 8th, the Senate took a monumental step toward passing the historic Great American Outdoors Act (S. 3422), which represents the single greatest commitment to increasing public access and advancing conservation in a lifetime, by voting to proceed to final consideration of the bill on an overwhelming bipartisan vote of 80-17.
