The Boone and Crockett Club has announced its support for changing the name of Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge in Mississippi to the Sam D. Hamilton Noxubee National Wildlife Refuge in honor of the late director of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

In testimony before a Congressional committee, Boone and Crockett Club president emeritus Lowell E. Baier told committee members that H.R. 1996, the Government Savings Litigation Act, will help America's fish, wildlife and natural resources agencies do their jobs.

The legislation will benefit conservation and sound wildlife management by bringing fairness, transparency and accountability to the Equal Access to Justice Act (EAJA).

Legislation to be introduced today in Congress could axe what has amounted to federal subsidies for environmental extremist and animal rights groups making big business out of suing the U.S. government.

The Boone and Crockett Club has presented its Theodore Roosevelt Legacy Award to an organization commemorating 100 years of conservation leadership and partnership, the venerable Wildlife Management Institute (WMI). WMI received the award and recognition during the North American Wildlife and Natural Resources Conference, March 16, in Kansas City, Mo.

It is with sadness that the Pope and Young Club shares the news that our founder, Glenn St. Charles, has passed away. Glenn St. Charles, passed away September 19^th at his home in Seattle, Washington, after a short illness. He was 98.

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar and Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack have named Bob Model, long-standing member and chairman of Government Affairs for the Boone and Crockett Club, and seven other Club members to serve on a new Wildlife and Hunting Heritage Conservation Council.

The council is an official advisory group under the Federal Advisory Committee Act that will help to promote and preserve America’s hunting heritage for future generations. 

Outdoor Life and its 5.5 million readers have selected Boone and Crockett Club President Lowell E. Baier of Bethesda, Md., as the top conservationist in the third-annual “OL 25” list of people who’ve had the greatest positive impact on hunting, fishing and conservation.

Ninety years after his death, Theodore Roosevelt remains an American outdoor icon. His hunting adventures are among the best known. His ethics are among the most championed. And he remains among the most often quoted visionaries in all of conservation. But no illustrated biography of Roosevelt as the consummate hunter, outdoorsman and arms enthusiast has existed until now.

Today the Club congratulated all of the selectees, especially those who’ve had a hand in North America’s unprecedented success in restoring and managing big game populations.
