Boone and Crockett Club: Coyote Management and Fair Chase

Animal rights groups attempting to end all public hunting is nothing new. Their most recent efforts have focused on banning local contests that encourage hunters to help reduce coyote overpopulation. Some states are now considering these bans primarily based on a question of fair chase.

The Principles of Fair Chase

FAIR CHASE, as defined by the Boone and Crockett Club, is the ethical, sportsmanlike, and lawful pursuit and taking of any free-ranging wild game animal in a manner that does not give the hunter an improper or unfair advantage over the game animals.

Sportsmen's Bill Passes House

The U.S. House of Representative today passed the Natural Resources Management Act (S. 47). The bipartisan package of bills that includes several key pieces of the Sportsmen's Act passed the Senate on February 12, 2019, and is now awaiting the President's signature to become law.
