You won’t find any “let ‘em grow” bucks here. You will find an epic state-record ram, a seriously nasty non-typical whitetail, and a massive Nevada bear. And who can forget the 95-inch pronghorn? Take a look.

Boero - TCB
TYPICAL COLUMBIA BLACKTAIL

With the second-largest typical Columbia blacktail in California, this is Steven Boero with his best Columbia blacktail to date. Unless another hunter gets very lucky this fall, Boero will have three animals at the 32nd Big Game Awards, including two blacktails and one Coeus’ deer.

B&C SCORE: 171-1/8

BLACK BEAR

On a self-guided hunt on public land, Bryan Boren used a classic Winchester Model 94 .30-30 to take this mighty bruin at just 18 yards. Dang! Believe it or not, this bear is the 22nd largest bear in the records for Nevada. The state record comes in roughly two points larger. Still, that's a pretty sweet bear.

B&C SCORE: 20-8/16
LOCATION: Carson City County, Nevada
YEAR TAKEN: 2023
HUNTER: Bryan J. Boren

PRONGHORN

Mike Gallo (in camo) has a knack for killing really big pronghorns. In fact, he is the current world’s record holder with a buck he killed in New Mexico in 2013. A decade later, he came close to breaking his own record with this absolute specimen. Fun fact: Mike donated his world’s record to the Club's National Collection of Heads and Horns

B&C SCORE: 95-0/8
LOCATION: Otero County, New Mexico
YEAR TAKEN: 2023
HUNTER: Mike Gallo

NON-TYPICAL AMERICAN ELK

Gary A. Przekwas was used to traveling to Colorado to hunt elk. He’d done well over the years, taking 10 elk in as many trips. But when he drew a once-in-a-lifetime tag to hunt elk right outside his family cabin in Kittson County, he did not disappoint. Przekwas called this bull in and, in an interview with a local paper, said he didn’t even “break a sweat” thanks to the flat terrain in Minnesota compared to Colorado.

B&C SCORE: 396-2/8
LOCATION: Kittson County, Minnesota
YEAR TAKEN: 2023
HUNTER: Gary A. Przekwas

DESERT BIGHORN

For Leo Goss, 2023 was a big year. He had four Boone and Crockett Club record-book entries, including this awesome desert bighorn ram from Mexico. To be fair, 2023 wasn’t his biggest year for the records. In 2020, Goss had seven, yep, seven entries, including a pronghorn from Wyoming and the rest were from south of the border.

B&C SCORE: 183-2/8
LOCATION: Coahuila, Mexico
YEAR TAKEN: 2023
HUNTER: Leo H. Goss

NON-TYPICAL COLUMBIA BLACKTAIL

In what appears to be nothing short of a rainforest, Bryan Heck managed to not just see this monster blacktail, but actually arrow it last October. Those dark antlers make Heck’s buck the sixth-largest non-typical Columbia blacktail to come out of Washington.

B&C SCORE: 157-3/8
LOCATION: Thurston County, Washington
