Hunting, Cooking Books Win More Awards

PUBLISHED August 10, 2015

Two books by the Boone and Crockett Club continue to collect national recognition for excellence in publishing, beating out competitors from all genres.

Boone and Crockett Club's Complete Guide to Hunting Whitetails and the Club's first cookbook, Wild Gourmet: Naturally Healthy Game, Fish and Fowl Recipes for Everyday Chefs, were recently honored in national book competitions. The cookbook also received another prestigious publishing award earlier this year.

"Both publications have proven popular with reviewers and buyers, and these awards are icing on the cake. It's gratifying because these book competitions weren't just for outdoor titles. We finished ahead of books from all genres, so that's a showing of respect that all hunters can take to heart," said Boone and Crockett publications director Julie Tripp.

She added that the books are essential for anyone interested in hunting or processing and cooking your own venison, as well as other game meats.

The two books and their awards:

Boone and Crockett Club's Complete Guide to Hunting Whitetails offers fresh data, strategies and insights from noted authorities. Available in electronic or paperback formats with 272 pages and hundreds of photos, illustrations, charts and graphs.

Gold Award - Guide/Travel Category of the PubWest Book Design Awards, recognizing superior design and production. A medallion was presented recently and the book will be displayed at a publishing conference in Santa Fe, N.M.

Wild Gourmet: Naturally Healthy Game, Fish and Fowl Recipes for Everyday Chefs is the Club's first-ever cookbook. At 272 pages, it features instructions for processing game mammals, birds and fish, recipes from noted chefs and suggested wine pairings submitted by third-generation Napa winemaker and Boone and Crockett member Marc Mondavi.

Silver Award - Cooking Category of the Foreword Reviews INDIEFAB Book of the Year competition. More than 1,500 entries in 63 categories were judged by librarians and booksellers, with winners announced recently in San Francisco.

Gold Award - Cookbook Category of the IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards, one of the highest national honors for independent book publishers. An engraved crystal trophy was presented in April in Austin, Texas.

Both titles can be purchased from top booksellers, or directly from Boone and Crockett Club by clicking here, visiting www.boone-crockett.org or calling 888-840-4868.
