The Guide Outfitters Association of British Columbia (GOABC) joins the growing list of sponsors for one of North America's longest-running celebrations of big-game conservation and management - the Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards, scheduled for July 14-16, 2016 in Springfield, Missouri.

The triennial Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards will take place at the Bass Pro Shops flagship store in Springfield. The event offers a public exhibition of World's Records and Top-5 trophies in all categories of native North American big game, plus records-book specimens taken during the past three years by hunters age 16 and under.

"This is an opportunity for the public to appreciate big game trophies for what they really are, symbols of the success of America's conservation system," said Club President Morrie Stevens. "The outstanding specimens that will be on display are a result of sustainable use conservation and verification that science-informed programs are working to ensure wildlife for future generations."

GOABC Executive Director, Scott Ellis said, "GOABC shares Boone and Crockett Club's commitment for fair chase hunting as the foundation of our systems of wildlife conservation and applauds their efforts to sustain long-term stewardship of the wildlife ecosystems in which all wildlife species depend upon. By joining together to educate the public that hunting is a significant mechanism for conservation, we will hopefully be able to form alliances with anyone who truly cares about the future of wildlife."
Stevens added, "GOABC is one of the top leaders in the guiding and outfitting industry. Their dedication to wildlife and habitat resources, as well as providing the highest quality of legal and ethical hunting services shine as examples for others to emulate. We are proud to partner with a group who supports our mission of conservation, fair chase, education, and wildlife advocacy."

In October 2016, the Club will release its newest record book, 29th Big Game Awards. The next edition in its popular and collectible book series will feature nearly 4,000 new Boone and Crockett-qualifying trophies entered and accepted during the 29th Awards period (2013-2015) in 36 different categories of North American big game, from whitetail to walrus.

Boone and Crockett Club began keeping trophy records in 1906 as a way of detailing species once headed for extinction. Today, trophy data reflect population health and habitat quality. Biologists compare and contrast records to improve local management strategies as well as state and federal wildlife polices.

To date, the growing list of sponsors for the Boone and Crockett Club 29th Big Game Awards includes Wild Sheep Foundation, Federal Premium Ammunition, Dallas Safari Club, DNZ Products, Americase, Weatherby, Buck Knives, the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and Kimber Manufacturing.
