Conservation in Color - 2022 Winners

Conservation in Color - 2022 Winners

The Boone and Crockett Club Conservation Program has just wrapped up their 2nd annual Conservation in Color Art Contest where we asked students ages K-12 to send in their nature art!

This year the prompt was, “Draw something in nature that means a lot to you and tell us about it.” Our hope was to get some insight on why teaching kids about nature and conservation is so important through their eyes. We were beyond blown away with all of the entries and the meaning behind them, coming from such young minds!

Today, fewer children have the opportunity to experience nature as many other generations have… Some students grow up city-bound and never get the chance to go on hikes, explore creek beds or climb trees in the park. Conservation education and getting kids out into nature is needed now more than ever. We hope you get a sense of how important these natural places and education programs can be to children through the Conservation in Color Art submissions.

It was very difficult to choose a winner out of the many amazing entries we received. However, the 2022 winners demonstrated originality, creativity, an interesting interpretation of the topic and a meaningful artistic statement. Congratulations to all the conservation-minded artists who entered!

Olivia Lewis - 10th grade
“One of my favorite things to do in nature is to just go to parks or fields or forests, and to explore them with friends, family, or my dogs. It's a very peaceful experience and can be really grounding to just be out surrounded by nature when I am feeling stressed.”

Aubrie Waltner- 6th Grade
“I have made a Lego sculpture. It is a man that just finished canoeing and is laying down under a tree. I did this art piece because I love swimming and I love laying under trees in the summer.”

Claira Duty- 3rd Grade
“Thank you mountains for giving me water. Thank you plants for giving me air. I love you nature.”
