The Latest News in Conservation
Bass Pro Shops has joined the Boone and Crockett Club's new Trailblazers in Conservation initiative to help the hunting community rise to the challenges of a changing world.
If sporting lifestyles--and the conservation successes funded through hunting--are to thrive in the future, then today's sportsmen must find a way to balance climate change, increased energy development, unmitigated urban sprawl, wildlife disease outbreaks, conflicting policies and a host of other challenges.
Bass Pro Shops, as a partner in Trailblazers in Conservation, will sponsor the Club's work for scientific wildlife management, balanced policies, hunter advocacy and better public understanding of conservation based on sustainable use of resources.
Theodore Roosevelt founded Boone and Crockett in 1887 to rally hunters' advocacy for sound environmental policy, says Marc Mondavi, vice president of communications for the Club.
"The Trailblazers in Conservation mission is critical to the future of hunting and managing our natural resources," said Johnny Morris, founder of Bass Pro Shops. "We're grateful to Boone and Crockett Club for undertaking this important initiative and proud to be a partner in developing the next generation of hunters and conservation stewards."
"Since then, Boone and Crockett members have been pivotal in most of America's milestone conservation measures," said Mondavi, "including the Pittman-Robertson Act, Lacy Act, federal Duck Stamp program, Farm Bills, National Wilderness Preserve Act, Wild and Scenic Rivers Act, Farm Bills dating back to the 1930s, and many others."
He added, "Looking ahead, we see a critical need to step up in even bigger, bolder ways for the future of hunting, wildlife and conservation. And we're grateful for the support of Bass Pro Shops."
Bass Pro Shops, a leading retailer of hunting, fishing, camping and other outdoor recreation gear, joins Boyt Harness Co., Buck Knives, and Swarovski as the first partners to join Boone and Crockett in Trailblazers in Conservation.
